Pongal 2026

The Pongal recess play gave students a meaningful opportunity to experience and appreciate Tamil culture. Prior to the event, the Tamil girls went on a learning journey where they explored traditional folk activities such as Oyilattam, Karagattam, and Kolattam. They also had the chance to see cows and learn more about the agricultural significance of the Pongal festival.

During the recess play, the Primary 5 girls performed a lively Kolattam dance, showcasing their coordination and teamwork. The Primary 6 Tamil girls conducted a Sweet Pongal preparation demonstration, explaining the ingredients and cultural significance of the dish. Students were also introduced to Karagattam balancing techniques, learning about the skill required in this traditional dance.

The event was an enriching experience that promoted appreciation of Tamil traditions and culture.
