P6 Social Studies Learning Journey to Asian Civilisation Museum 2026

On 5 and 7 May, our Primary 6 students stepped back in time during an immersive Social Studies Museum-based Learning (MBL) journey to the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM). This experience served as a vibrant "living classroom," where history moved beyond the pages of textbooks and into the hands of our curious learners.

One of the highlights was exploring the Tang Shipwreck collection. Students marveled at the sheer scale of the cargo recovered from the seabed, including intricately designed ceramics and gold artefacts. Guided by Museum Educators, they pieced together stories of ancient maritime trade, gaining a deeper understanding of how these historical connections turned Singapore into a vital global hub.

The students also navigated through the various thematic galleries, observing customs and traditions from across Asia. By engaging with interactive exhibits, the students discovered how different communities adapted to their environments.

Through this inquiry-based visit, our students linked classroom concepts to real-world history. They developed an appreciation for the diverse communities that contributed to our national development and historical significance. The experience sparked a sense of wonder about the cultural tapestry of Southeast Asia and our place within it. This journey has not only enriched their knowledge but also strengthened their commitment to understanding and valuing our shared heritage.
