MT Fortnight 2026
Our Mother Tongue Fortnight deepened students’ appreciation of diverse cultures through hands-on activities and peer learning.
Mother Tongue Language Fortnight 2026
Our annual Mother Tongue Fortnight brought culture to life, offering students vibrant, hands-on opportunities to discover the deep connections between traditions and core values. Through a variety of interactive experiences across different levels, students immersed themselves in the rich heritage of our diverse communities. Primary 2 students explored the rhythmic beats and celebratory significance of the Malay kompang, while Primary 3 students discovered the cultural and religious importance of the agal villakku (traditional Indian oil lamps). Meanwhile, Primary 4 students stepped back in time through bamboo slip making, learning how knowledge was uniquely preserved in the past.
The cultural celebration extended into recess, where our Upper Primary students stepped up as leaders and station facilitators. Proudly running interactive booths, these student leaders guided their peers and younger schoolmates through a variety of Chinese, Malay, and Tamil cultural practices. This student-led initiative sparked meaningful peer learning and deepened cross-cultural appreciation across the entire school.
Ultimately, these authentic learning experiences did more than just teach culture—they broadened our students' horizons and nurtured a profound respect for the diverse customs that unite our multicultural society.
