SMSP Whole-School Approach to Leveraging Educational Technology
Aligning to the MOE EdTech Masterplan 2030, we are committed to leveraging Educational Technology to enhance teaching and learning, with the aim of developing our students into confident and future-ready learners. One of the focuses of this masterplan is the enhancement of students’ Digital Literacy and Technology Skills (DLTS).
To support students in developing DLTS, the school adopts three broad approaches:
-
Aligning the curriculum to MOE’s 9 Digital Competencies, ensuring that students develop these essential skills through authentic learning experiences across subject areas.
-
Fostering self-directed learning in DLTS, where curated SLS modules are assigned at each level to guide students in building digital proficiency at their own pace.
-
Embedding DLTS development in level-wide programmes, school activities and CCAs, providing students with real-world contexts to apply and deepen their digital skills.
Table1: Descriptions of the 9 Digital Competencies
As part of this effort, the school has undertaken a whole-school curriculum review to ensure alignment with the 9 Digital Competencies. In parallel, we have been actively upgrading and expanding students’ access to learning devices to ensure they are equipped to engage in technology-enabled learning during curriculum time.
In addition, we place strong emphasis on cyber wellness and responsible digital citizenship. Through assembly programmes, FTGP lessons, and daily practices such as managing their own login credentials, students are guided to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.
The school also develops student leadership by training IT/AV Assistants in each class and appointing Cyber Wellness Ambassadors to promote responsible digital use among peers.
Through this holistic and structured approach, our school hopes to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and values needed to thrive in a technology-rich and rapidly evolving future.
